That is looking great. I'm in awe of your patience and persistence with the sanding. I don't think I would have stuck with it.
You work payed off.

I got the first coat of tung on the chair. Now, I have to get it rubbed down with steel wool and apply a second coat. I'm unsure of how many coats I will end up using. I'm thinking at least 4. Hopefully the second coat and ones after that will take to the wood alot easier.

I used 4 coats on this box. ( the picture doesn't do it justice)
It has a nice semi/satin gloss to it. Spend the time on the chair, it will come around the next coat or 2.

That box has a very nice finish! I'm excited about the additional coats on the chair.
