Finally got annoyed enough at this paper towel holder to take 15 minutes to stop its propensity to jackpot a roll to the floor.
Needed to keep the dowel from rotating and the plastic holder’s loading slot had parallel sides for a bit. Grabbed a piece of 7/8” SYP, shaped the end stubs, and planed chamfers with my LV apron plane.
And the end result works. I can yank on a towel and the roll stays put.
