Oak? Identification

Merry Chsristmas!

It doesn’t feel heavy like oak, but the sawyer said oak. It’s from the coast near Charleston, SC.

Any ideas what it is?

First look I would guess Sweet gum, if it is light then maybe some kind of tupelo

Not to take this to another option but I have some salted pecan that looks similar. If it had more pinkish red I would say Chinese chestnut as I have some of that as well.
Certainly not oak.

Autobon has a bark ID book as does a Google search. The bark will get you pretty close and since you know where it grew that narrows it down some. Here is a sample

Thanks to all!

I’m really leaning toward Maple the more pictures I look at and poplar seems scarce on the coast.
