I've decided to bring things back in a piecemeal fashion.
The Home Page has been replaced. It still is at
www.ncwoodworker.net The primary difference is that the News portion is just the Topics from the Announcements. That way anyone who wishes to make an announcement just posts in the announcement forum. There are NO special comments, just normal replies to topics. How's that Insomniac\\/
The import of the users and forums went much better than I expected. But of course, not everything is perfect. The forum page is at
www.ncwoodworker.net/forums
First, your profile and options. It is very important that when you log in the first time, that you click the "UserCP" and set up both your profile and your options. There are abunch of new profile fields that should be set. Also, the import did not pick up the default options. I strongly suggest that you select "Hybrid" mode for thread viewing, at least until you get used to the new displays. Also, pick up the WYSWIG mode for editing.
The reason for the extra fields in the profile is to assist members in searching for members. A major reason for this site is to let members meet each other becuase of location and/or interests. vBulletin provides extensive facilities for search forums and members.
This system has literally thousands of options for set up by the Admin. I made a best guess at what some of them really meant. So don't be surprised, if I screwed up some or even a lot. Just let me know know and I will fix asap.
Please post your problems, questions, etc in this thread so everything can be seen by everybody. That will help me a lot. There is a FAQ supplied by the the vBulletin people. Please try that first.
Logging in: If you have trouble logging in, please email me at
admin@ncwoodworker.net.
More info shortly,
Steve
PS. Sorry about the smiley display. Did some cleanup but not enough.
