I made this end grain cuting board for my brother as a wedding gift. It is out of hard maple and purple heart with several coats of mineral oil applied for a finish. I told them to use it and abuse and that if they some how damage it we would fix it back up good as new. Please excuse the
poor quality of the photo all I had to take a picture with was my phone

Looks like a nice board. If that's all end grain, your brother should have a difficult time causing it any damage.

Ray is absolutely right. End grain cutting boards last forever, it seems. Everyone I have made have only needed a mineral oil treatment ever so often and they are as good as new! (Never put them in a dishwasher though.:nah

Great choice of woods too.
