i made a king size bed out of this same batch of cherry a few years back so my wife is partial to it. its over 20 years old so its a pretty nice oxidized and rich colored.
the fam took a trip to nags head and hatteras right before the covid took off. picked up one of the lighthouse prints in the gift shop. we saw 2 of the 3 lighthouses pictured on the trip.
these parts came from a 4"x4" and I milled them to be QS. nice to be able to rough mill to ~5/4. then to create the offsets i just took off a fat 1/16 in the planer. all parts still over 7/8.
the thru tenon was done with my homemade mortiser. i shaped and prefinished the tenon before glue up, and then wedged. i then carefully shaped the wedge with a chisel after the glue dried.
the paper cord is wrapped and tacked around a scrap. they are a friction fit.
all surfaces are straight off my #4 1/2. love projects with narrow parts
