miter lock bit question

can I cut the dadoes for the side and drawer bottom before I cut the miter locks? I havent cut the sides to length yet and would prefer to cut the dadoes while they are all still long. thnx

Yes - since neither of the two joined pieces show their end, a rabbet or dado will be hidden.

You might get a little more tear out at the dado from the miter bit doing it that way, but yes, it can be done. The tear out will be easy to repair and hidden when the joint goes together.

thats what i was concerned with since a backer is recommended with these types of cuts, thanks

Just cut them a little long and trim after the dado/rabbet.
