Having really started in the last few months with this woodworking thing, i have had nothing but great experiences at all of the places mentioned above. but be careful, as buying beautiful wood turns out to be somewhat addicting.
If pressed, I would say the most beautiful wood i have seen and/or worked with is Scott's high figure quartersawn white oak.
I was at The Hardwood Store of NC last week and they bailed me out with their huge sanding machine and had 12/4 maple that I haven't seen elsewhere. great customer service.
Anchor Hardwoods are the closest to me and have also had great customer service-they knew what i was looking for and treated me like my small orders mattered a lot to them.
