Looking for clear, fine-grained Douglas Fir in 3/4" and 1/2" (actual) thicknesses, widths less than 4", for boatbuilding. The longer the better (I need up to 17'), though scarfing shorter pieces will be fine if necessary.

I can go to the expensive commercial supply houses if I have to, but I was hoping someone might have a stash of nice stuff they'd like to sell. (I used to be able to find some nice boards on the rack at Fitch in Carrboro, but it's become harder to find the fine-grained, older growth DF of late...).

Thanks!

Neil

I may still have some construction dimension stock left over if you are interested. It would need to be resawn, but tt is of the type of douglas fir you are describing. Let me know and I will check.

That would be great, Travis, if you could check. I'm looking for boards with on the order of 25 grains/inch, generally clear and straight grain (I can cut out an occasional knot in the resawing, and scarf/piece as required).

Thanks,

Neil
