Leather Veritas hold-down boots

I found that it is difficult to glue leather pads to the Veritas hold-downs because of their black coating. I did not want to disturb the coating so I made some slip-on leather boots. It took a small amount of trial and error to get them to fit without slipping off so I thought I would share the dimensions that worked for me.

They are made from a 2" x 4" rectangle of 5-6 oz vegetable tan leather folded in half down the middle to make a 2"x2" square, and stitched with a line 1/8" from the edge to form a pouch with 1 open end. I just finished the stitch with a knot on the outside because they don't need to be cosmetically perfect. The smooth side of the leather is on the outside on these but I might eventually experiment with either using the flesh side out or actual suede. They were pretty quick to knock out.

This is something I have wanted for a while and is also serving as some stitching practice for making a drawknife sheath.
