Some time ago I bought a Powermatic Model 45. Great hearty machine. It only came with a live center and a spur drive though and I've picked up a few extras to go with it.
I noticed that faceplates seemed just a little bit out of round and wobbled ever so slightly. As long as you don't go unmounting and remounting the piece, as you should not do anyway, it's all good. But when I spent some money on a Grizz knockoff of a oneway chuck it had a more exagerated wobble. I had just about given up on using it when I tried the chuck on another lathe and did not have the problem. In fact, it was pretty darn smooth.
It occurred to me that the threads on the shaft might not be quite so exact perfect. I tried putting a couple large washers on the shaft just to give the chuck something to seat up against firmly... and it worked.
For a more permanant fix, I bought a collar which works like a charm. Here are some before, during and after pictures:
