Latest Amazing Project From My @longer.global Ray5 20 Watt Laser Engraver
A Beautiful Layered Mermaid! This is one of Mom's Birthday Presents I Made.
The file is from @etsy and I bought the file and imported it into @lightburnsoftware and dialed in my settings
I used 3mm Basswood for all 6 layers of the Mermaid and the settings I used were;
For Cutting; 300 Speed, 86% Power and 1 Pass with Air Assist On
For Engraving; 3500 Speed, 27% Power and 1 Pass with Air Assist On
It took around 45 minutes to cut all six layers out and I was blown away by the amount of detail in each layer, from the scuba diver exploring the sunken ship, to the coral reef in the mermaids tail.
After they were done and all the waste was removed I took the pieces inside and painted them with watered down acrylic craft paint, watering the paint down let's the natural grain of the wood show through.
I then glued the layers together with small spring clamps and @thegorillagluecompany
After it dried I finished it with several coats of @rustoleum clear gloss to make it shine and give it protection
Mom loved this gift!
