It is time for a new monthly contest. Looking for those big tables, i.e., kitchen, banquet, game, and/or conference, etc. Poured or not poured. Live edged or straight edged. Focus is on table tops but a wooden structure (legs, etc.) under the table top is value added.

Rules (please read):

-Equivalent size of seating for 4 or more.
-Must be created/completed within the last 72 months - here's a reason to sell the old and build the new.
-One submission per creator/artist per category (month).
-Each creator can win a contest no more than once every six months.
-Members vote for winners so your submittal 'marketing' post should reflect quality. Limited to 3 photos and 500 words. One post per submittal. Any Q&A regarding a submittal should be handled by separate post or DM, PM, or Start Conversation. Let us not clutter the contest thread and everyone can share How's-It-Made in the Resources forum.
-In case of a tie, a judge panel will make the selection. Judges decision is final. Judges will remain anonymous.
-Each monthly contest will have two winners, novice and journeyman/veteran/pro. Novice is defined as <3 years woodworking, cumulative. Journeyman is all others. Submitters must indicate if they are novice or journeymen; honor system applies. Yep, this is a bit convoluted and may need some modification as we gain experience.

Tables up! Let's see 'em.

No big tables yet? What's up with that? Don't tell me we have a contest with no entries, no winners. Has it been more than 72 mos. since everyone has built a table? 😟

Ok you talked me into it. I was a novice when I made this, but don’t consider myself novice anymore. Still learning, but that never ends. I always wanted to do a live edge table, but didn’t want to do a river type table. I wanted to do it in walnut, but figured I’d start with some less expensive species in case I screwed it up. The book matched slabs I got were 2-1/2” thick so it was quite challenging to handle. The legs took a lot longer than the top.

Yep, it's the 72 months for me. I've built 4 in the last 15 years, but none in the last 72 months. 🤷‍♂️

2021 - a neighbor had a family barn torn down and asked me to make a table from it. Bob K had a kiln and made sure all the bugs were dead… then I had to figure out the top with all these uneven, unsquare bug eaten boards. I milled them flat on one side and glued them to a piece of half inch plywood, then fit the frame around it. The base is painted poplar and all connected with pinned m+t. I did find the plans for the base online….. only time so far I have paid for plans but in this case was worth it. Neighbor was/is very happy with it….

I did this last year. A Basket Weave Pattern table for our kitchen. I got the idea from a picture of a Greek fresco.

It is Maple, Oak, & Mahogany for the top. The sides are Santos, Maple, Tigerwood and the corners are Cumaru, Legs are Black Metal and Mahogany Sealed with Resin, finished with Tinted Lacquer.

I built tis 52" round 4 years ago out of ash. The curves on the legs were particularly tricky and I had a lot of fun trying out some new techniques. I don't expect it will win or even get any votes but I didn't want to disappoint my buddy Gene so I thought I'd post an entry
