Hey if anyone is looking at buying a Jessem Dowel Jig, or maybe want to buy the 1/4 or 1/2 plates for their existing one may want to look at this video I made.

I bought the new dowel jig to change sizes and I show the nuances between the two that Jessem may not share.

It may be very helpful to some people.

Pretty informative video, Ben. One thing you mention is not using glue on the dowels. I have been using fluted 3/8" dowels on practically all of my joinery ("Dowelmax" jig) for the last 15 years never had a problem with glued dowel insertion due to vacuuming. (The hardwood dowels I use have the flutes running end to end, parallel to the sides; not spiraling the dowels length.
