As you'll remember I recently visited Scott Smith where HE and Rob and I welded up my captured hollowing system.

Well Fri. night I finally was able to get some time to make my 3/4" boring bars(my 1/2" bars are a mix of homemade and Kelton tools.) Here are my 3/4" bars.

Very Nice Looking Gary~!

Now lets see some of your turnings...And what size is the smaller steel?

And what do the handles look like?

Looking good. Funny thing seeing this, my neighbor was over this evening as we plan to make the goose neck bars for my system. We were planning to bend the 3/4" stainless, but I'm doing a little homework to see other designs. You probably know more about all of this than I ... so why not just bend the 3/4"?

The smaller steel is 3/8". These bars are inserted into the "D" bar of the Captured hollowing rig.

Why bend the 3/4" when you can bend and tap the 3/8" much easier. The 3/4" is your support bar mostly just to stop the chatter from over extending the bar, the further out the thicker the bar needs to be to prevent flex, flex=chatter. Chatter=bad words being said.
