Holly cut down

If you don't cut Holly during the winter I believe, it's usually turn green. I believe it needs to be dormant when you cut it in order for it to stay white. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've had holly 'blue' on me in my younger days before someone told me about this. Since then, I've been careful to cut it up and get it drying as soon as I could. This significantly reduced the blueing.

He actually likes the green and tries to reproduce it. Usually with good results. He was offered $150 for the big vase at a craft fair!!! He took it to show, it was promised to his daughter.
I was wondering if it was the heat from the epoxy or a chemical reaction that caused it to turn green.

My experience is that it must be kiln dried immediately after felling to preserve the whiteness.
