Help identify this?

Can anyone help tell me what this wood is? Also, what are the black lines in the wood. The bark was tough to get removed and the wood looks okay dry.

yep...i'm with Jim. Oak most likely of the white variety?

Make that three for white oak.

Yep, one of the white oaks for sure. Those long medullary rays are a dead giveaway.

Probably so but better photos of the bark would be more confirmative.
