I started to do woodworking because as a young Private in the US Army, with a family, I found it was cheaper to build my own furniture. I built beds, dressers, desks, tables, picture frames...... Anything that we needed. I really enjoy woodworking and look forward to seeing how this forum works.

Welcome Vic. Like you, I started my woodworking obsession while an E-4 in the Coast Guard for the same reason. We couldn't afford new furniture so we bought used and restored it. Still have a few of those pieces.

Sorry, I didn’t even know there was a saw mill there and it is not that far from where I live.
