Wow! Good thing I don't live closer. Those look like some nice planes and the prices are pretty good as well -- especially considering they are ready to use.
Do you want an actual Stanley #40/#40½, or just something that can do the same job?
You can make an effective scrub plane by filing open the mouth of a #3 or #4, and grinding a radius on the iron. You could also go with the "English tradition" and use a fore plane, such as the Stanley (or other manufacturer's equivalent) #5, #5½, or #6.
I started out using a converted #4, but I currently use a Stanley #5½ for rough stock removal.
