We had the grandkids (9 &7) the week before Christmas and I had to work, so Nana was in charge.

Came home Friday and found they had been in the shop. (I keep all power tools unplugged and breakers off)

They decided to make some cutting boards with some wood from the scrap bin and build a house for me. She used painters tape to attempt to hold things together on the house. That was very cute, she has some magic markers.

However for the cutting boards they got into some paint, stain, shellac and Poly. As soon as I opened the door I smelled the shellac and had an 'oh crap' moment. Lots of cross contamination. Not too bad on the paint, but one of the stains had a paint consistency. Oh well, lesson learned. We had a stern conversation about using anything with a lid or liquids. I hate to lock it up because I encourage them to be creative when Im there. Guess I'll just have to take more time off work to keep an eye on them.

I would consider Rubbermaid or Tupperware. Glass and children scares the mom in me. Plastic doesn’t break into shards.
