Are you trying to just store your rods or do you want to display them for show too? I would think going horizontal would work well with a pair of boards with angled notches cut in them and hung on the wall. Slide the rods in the notches with each one facing the left or right so the reels don't hit each other.

Actually I'd like to do both!
Most of them are 2 piece and could work in a vertical design but assembled they're over 8' long so I'd be looking at a horizontal plan.
I can do something myself but was wondering whether there was some plans out there that worked for the members.

The Meisel catalog appears in the mail every once in a while, and they have plans for fishing rod holders. You can check out their site for ideas. Then either pick up a set of plans, or head off on your own. Check them out here:
