Well, my one month project that only took six months is finally done. Thanks to my Mrs. for being so patient. I'm pleased with the way it finally turned out. And I can say it's close to the original Sketchup plan -- provided I look at the end result through very dirty glasses. The center cross members from front to back use sliding dovetails. I ran power to the first and third compartments and placed brass grommets to put lamps on the mantle. Thanks to everyone for the advice you gave along the way. I certainly learned a lot! The family cat, George, is certainly happy to have the construction in his restroom done.

A special thanks to Ed (ednl) for help with re-sawing and the use of his drum sander!

Merry Christmas!! Happy Quanza!! Happy Honoka!! Happy Boxing Day!! Happy National Bartender's Month!! Happy Festivus!! (Please forgive me if I left anyone out)!

Excellent work Mark and I really that you used the wasted space in most mantle's as a hidden compartment with power.
