Finishing a mushroom.

I femt inspired so I made a mushroom out of brabford pear(very green) so what do I put on it? it is starting to crack as I typr this

I'm afraid if it has started cracking already it's gonna have a short life.

Theese things seem to happen to me. In a strange way it gives it a realistic kind of look at least till it breaks apart. If I do this again what should I use as a sealer?

I would wax the stock while it's drying.

Just had a thought (a rare thing these days), throw the shroom in a container of DNA for a few days. The alcohol may stop the checking while getting rid of the water.

I have had some trouble with my Crab apple cracking - even when I do the brown paper and shavings thing - the DNA has been the best for me with the CA but I can't afford alot of that DNA - does the fruit wood cause alot of problems with this

So how long should I soak? I got DNA this afternoon dropped it in to soak and the cracks seem to close up some. So I dont know how long to soak it.
