Cutoff coasters and holder

Slowly my cutoff pile is starting to overtake my little shop. So i had to do something.

Basic idea was to begin by cutting my cutoffs to a functional size and shape to then build "blocks" out of these.

These could then be assembled however and cut into a final useful object. I settled on square cross section sticks...about 3-4" long and roughly 1/2" square. This allowed me to cut down
a majority of the random size cutoffs i had laying about (mostly 1/2 and 3/4" thick materials) . If the building block is too big, it limits which cutoffs can be consumed.

Everything was done on the table saw, not bothering to plane the stick edges before any gluing.

I made flat boards out of the sticks, then stacked them to make a block. Then the block was cut across the face into coasters leaving the misaligned grains to be displayed on the coaster surface.

The base was similar concept using walnut cutoffs I had which were glued into a block and then cut into a useful shape.
