Recently decided to try some woods that are common, I just didn't have experience with them. Not sure why after all this time.
Decided to try my hand at a couple cutting boards and use the hard maple and cherry to see how these woods would work.
Pretty pleased with both woods and it was nice not having to stress over complicated joinery and fits and mortises, etc.
So fun for me and these will make nice gifts for my kids.
Cherry cutting board made from 4/4 and is 12x18.
While getting some other lumber at Somerton Ridge Hardwoods, I got a 8/4 stick of hard maple and used it for this board.
A little less glue ups using the thicker stuff and I added some leftover walnut pieces for contrast. 12x18x 1.6 inches.
