Avoiding tear-out

I spent some time this evening watching videos by Matthias Wandel - what a clever and ingenious young man. He has a short video on avoiding tear out on sheet goods. You'd think, at my age, I would already know this trick - but I didn't. Maybe you don't either. It works great.

Good tip however I rarely remove the antikickback pawls from my TS so unusable for me. To prevent tearout I prescore the veneer face with a razor knife which also works when using a portable circular saw to break down sheets. :wsmile:

Good tip! I've used the lowered blade technique with good results, but now with a back-cut! Thanks for posting the video!

Maybe it's just me but watching him retrieve that first off cut using his push stick with the saw running gave me a chill. :nah:
