A comment on never seen an anvil in a wood shop. Could not live without it! Gluing up the base for a small wine rack. Today's project.

Installed my i-vac IR sensor on the duct collector. I wish it had a little gain adjustment as I have a short drum, but it looks like it will work very well. I think I'll run an extension cord so it only comes on when the blower is on.

Small extension to the BS table. A chunk of left over melamine PB. Lines up with the motor so no additional footprint. I will add my roller based long in and outfeed next. Testing with my walnut 6 x 8 3' yesterday proves they need to be attached. If one were to deal with logs a lot, a real sliding table would be in order.

New vise for the drill press to replace the $9 HF special. Seems like a small ( but expensive) thing, but it really does work better with the bottom guide rail. If it had a quick release, it would be prefect, but probably not as strong.

On that sensor, you think there’s a way you could make it remote, IOW have an indicator light come on in another room.

My DC will be either completely outside the shop or in another room.

Actually, it has a pretty long cord. The DC is on the other side of the wall to the right corner. It is just 3 wires, so I am sure it could be extended.

I use some short (2-3') railroad rails for glue up weights, FWIW.

They were called "Gravity Clamps" in the shops where I learned woodworking. Short pieces of railroad track, iron blocks, etc. Mine are some power transformers. Concrete blocks or bricks will work too. Anything to hold downward weight on glued parts, "until the glue dries". My old transformers are about 6" cube, so hold quite well.

I have a couple 5 gal. buckets of sand that I use, as I haven't come across any railroad track or an anvil.

I don't know where folks get their old railroad track either. I would not be without my anvil. My other hobby is British Sports cars, so I beat on things a lot.

Here's a couple I have used my anvil to bring back to life.
