A spoon for a friend

My friend asked me to make a tablespoon to match her teaspoon. She uses it in all her recipes and got tired of scooping three teaspoons for every time she needed a tablespoon.

Here is her teaspoon, I don’t know who made it, I think she got it in Ohio.

And here is the tablespoon that I made to match.

Nice match. How did you carve the bowl?

Deep gouge, spoon knife, and round card scraper for inside.
Sloyd knife, spoke shave, and card scraper for outside.
sanded to 400 grit and oiled with organic flax seed oil.

The one I made is cherry.

Pam didn’t think this was a true tablespoon so she got her measuring set from the kitchen and filled it with water. Exactly filled the wood spoon.

There’s a number of recognized and accepted methods for carving spoons. I don’t adhere to any of them…

I would offer a spoke shave but I’m down to like 3 or 4 now.
