A Segmented Bowl - Sort Of

This project was finished today. It was made from the left over blocks of wood that I used to make the stool tops shown in the picture. They had just been hanging around in the shop for a year because I really have a hard time throwing wood away. SO, this is not an example of how to make a segmented bowl correctly! The pieces were already cut into segments less that 3/4 wide so I wasn't about to try to cut them on any saw I had smaller than that. They were glued up as they were and the resulting "sticks" were cut into segments. This is why there are odd spacing, etc. However, all the joints are tight. And, yes, I know this is hardly an artistic combination. I just wanted to see what the different looks would look like and so I put them in one bowl because there were not enough parts to make larger pieces.

I like it! I’m the same way and can’t throw out any scrap of hardwood. This is a great way to use some of them.
