In color.
I use a lot of color in my blanks be it dyed or from natural woods to form patterns but I had been wanting to do a "white on white"
This is a test in concept.
I have one change to make.
If you can stand another.
ASpen and birch.
I think if I had powdercoated the tubes white I would have gotten more of the effect I wanted.
Due to the chatoyance of the grain this pen does change from the light brown to white as the pen is revolved.

The subtlety of the color is very cool, and there is enough gold color in the Birch to harmonize well with the gold plating. I think that it is a test that passed well.

Hey Eagle, I posted a reply on this this morning. I don't know what happened to it!

Anyway, I really like this pen. Wish I could make it this weekend and maybe get a chance to see it. I'll bet the light really plays off it nicely!

I think you need to comingle some antique heart pine with the browner of those two woods -- it'll produce a gold on golden brown. There will be some in a batch of maple headed that way. For testing, of course.
