The drawers rest on frames and I dadoed the sides of the drawers and screwed guides into the side frames of the carcass. A lot of adjustments with handplanes, scrapers and sanding was required for the final fit.

David, You used handplanes and scrapers? I'm not sure Norm is familiar with those tools; although, I have seen him use a hammer that didn't have a power cord attached. (Okay, perhaps I exaggerate.)

Norm has a schedule to maintain, whereas you are doing it for the enjoyment, and I suspect you would see a difference if you could place your work beside his.
