gouges

Can I sharpen small gouges with this?

I picked up one of these drill sharpeners used on CL. The stop for the bottom of the bit is easily removed. It seems like I could use it to sharpen small turning gouges, like my 3/8" bowl gouge. Any reason that wouldn't work or would be a bad idea? Also, if anyone has one of these and...

Turning gouges

Hi all, Does anyone know anything about Benjamin Best turning tools sold by PSI? I am interested because of the reviews and the price, but am skeptical because of the price. Anyone use them or know how well they work? Thank you. Jeff

What angle do you grind your gouges?

It appears that there are a number of different angles people grind their gouges. What angle do you use. Spindle gouge and bowl gouge.

Beginner Gouges

I am possibly buying the lathe I found on Craigslist and need to find a decent (but not too expensive) set of gouges. The lathe will come with a set of chisels but, I also need a few gouges. Suggestions are welcome...

Spindle Gouges - Fingernail profile

I have 4 spindle gouges, none of them fingernail ground. I really don't know the pros and cons. Should all spindle gouges have a fingernail grind or do you use one profile for one thing and another profile for other things. I am confused now
