Looking to "dispose" of a Combo Jointer/Planer.

Several years ago, I inherited a Makita Jointer/Planer combo unit. I believe the model number is 2030N. the pressure rollers have crumbled, and I'm not sure of the integrity of the drive belts. Anyone have any suggestions about what I can do with it? I'd rather NOT sell it for scrap. I...

UL to require Riving Knives on all new Table Saw designs (finally!)

I just received the latest edition of Woodsmith, and tucked into it was a one page article about new table saws being required to have Riving Knives rather than just splitters to carry the UL listing. :eusa_clap

Duke Power Tree Crew took down a large Cedar Tree ...

I spent some time at my parents house this weekend and it seems that they have a Cedar Tree that the contractors from Duke Power decided to cut down (I guess they get paid by the tree!) on the back of their property. It had a fairly large trunk, and it's been sitting out exposed for a while, so...

    Hello from Pineville

Beware the dreaded Woodguy Disease! There is no known cure, and all you can do is treat the symproms (shaking hands, sweaty brow, etc) with the purchase of a new tool. You've been warned!! :-) Welcome to the community!

    Dog cage

I want to chime in with DaveO as well. Little puppies can chew through material better than a shop shaw when left unattended. I've got a whippet that did some serious damage to my house before we got her broken of the chewing habit. Also, if you plan to go ahead and build a dog house/cage, I...

    Looking for MLCS Router opinions

I was browsing through a recent wood worker magazine and came across an ad for a 3HP. http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/marvel3hp.html I'm interested in opinions on the router, or other suggestions since I'm getting ready to buy one. Intended uses are...

    The Gift of LIght

With a cell phone or a any other shop phone, I recommend that you have 911 or emergency services programmed into one of the Speed Dial numbers. If you've got one hand holding a cord tight around the other arm, how ya gonna dial the number?

The forum software doesn't cut the images off. Your screen resolution may be set a little low so that the image extends off the right side of your screen. Mine is set to 1024x768 and I still have to scroll sideways to see all of the images.

Kreg K2000 Jig Sale from Grizzly

I have no idea. I got it as an e-mail offer from Grizzly, and thought it would be interesting to someone else here. If it's available from Amazon for less ... great!! I don't have a use for a pocket hole jig at this point, but that could change!

    Rust removal update

I've always wondered what the difference between single phase and three phase power was. This thread spurred me to invest the time in a couple Google searches. Three-Phase Basics http://www.windstuffnow.com/main/3_phase_basics.htm Making Three-Phase machines work in a One-Phase Shop...
