Making a set of Planemaker Floats

Making a set of Planemaker Floats 1.0

No permission to download
This article is about making a set of six floats. Floats typically come in pairs—push and pull—referring to which stroke provides the cutting action. The three sets of floats represented in this article are:
  • cheek floats for working on the inside faces of the mortise,
  • edge floats for bedding the iron and wedge on the cross-grain,
  • and face floats for opening and squaring the mortise.
