Drying Pen Blanks??

In a previous thread I posted about a shrinking blank.Well I tried something today.Cut some maple blanks.Out of the same wood.Well I cut them 3/4x3/4 and layed them on the dash of my truck.I'm hopeing that that will work??:icon_scra Has anyone ever tried that before?

Mine ride around in the floorboard. Does that count? They still get the heat, but not the direct sunlight.

got a microwave?:gar-Bi a toaster oven will do also.:icon_thum short cycles and allow to cool. might take several cycles but it does work.

or, you can start them and go to the back porch and have a Coors or 2 in the rocker.
..... and make all of them have a 'Walnut' look!
(Not that I would know from experience) :gar-Bi

Nothing like toasted maple right.Of course in my case it would be diet coke.:rotflm::rotflm:

Is 3/4x3/4 to small for letting green wood dry for pen turning:dontknow:


it need to be very dry.:gar-Bi you only microwave em for 30 seconds at a time and let em cool between cycles.:icon_thum yeh I learned it the hard way too.:rotflm: bowl blanks tend to start smokin after 10 or 20 minits!:rotflm: not that I have a problem with smokin bowls.............:eek:

You could use an old fridge and put a light bulb in there.



Just make sure the little man on the inside leaves the light on:rotflm::rotflm::rotflm::rotflm:.

I've been on the hunt for a non working upright freezer, haven't come up with one yet, figure a couple light bulbs, a couple of fans, and you have a kiln.
