Wood Type?

I found this piece beside the road. It was really straight so I had to bring it home!
I’m not sure about wood type. Any help is appreciated! TIA ! Thanks

Good guess. Pretty but hard wood. This was some piece I got out of one of those godforsaken trees in my yard.

Wood from fruit trees (apple, pear, cherry, etc.) were/are often used for things like saw handles. Even though ornamental, Bradford pears fall into this category. I know someone who refers to this as "curb wood", meaning that he often finds it by the curb where people have cut the trees up for removal. Another friend calls them "Bradford Bombs" because of the tendency to collapse in an ice storm. They have a lot of branches and these are relatively weak when weighted with ice.
