I cut this a couple of years ago as a walking stick for my granddaughter. Each time we go on a hike we cut a ring and write the date in it. It was 2 years ago and the bark is still 'fresh/moist'.

Any idea what it is/was? I also have one for my grandson, completly different wood and it is dried up and splitting. He likes to whack trees and any other object he can find with his.
