Why huge vacuum systems with Industrial CNC?

I've noticed numerous industrial woodworking auctions that feature large CNC equipment include very substantial vacuum pump systems that are part of the CNC item being sold.

Is this used to hold parts on the table or something else?

Just pure curiosity.

Yes it's used to hold parts to the table. Pump has to large enough to hold largest item. Some items are porious, so pump has to over come internal leakage. One slip, and item is toast.
