Well... or no well?

Well, as I decided my new miter saw is a keeper, time to fit my station to it. I had always had a well behind it. So I searched the deep well of the internet to get viewpoints. I wanted to do this well so I paid well to advice. I went no well and think it was well worth the effort turning out reasonably well.

Well you have me confused.
As the rare WWer that has no miter station, what is the function of a well behind your miter station? Collect the offcuts?

Well down the list of upcoming shop projects is a miter saw station.

My idea is to place a well behind the CMS but install a dust port like this...

...and connect a 2.5" line to the output port of the CMS.
