Tee fittings - not just for plumbing anymore

@pop-pop posted a T-fitting used to house the tommy bar on his portable vise.
Reminded me of this mallet I made about 10 years back.
The trick was using the fitting’s threads as a die to thread the handle and insert.
Used a triangular file to create cutting edges and twisted the wood parts in to cut the threads.
I only filed the stem of the ”T”. Threads in the other two arms are intact.
Worked like a champ.
Handle was my first (only) attempt at multiaxis turning. As I recall I ended up shaping it mostly with a spokeshave.
But the threads worked great.

Chances are pretty good I got this idea here so thanks for whoever inspired this in the way-back time.

Dennis- I did not. When I made the mallet I thought of doing that but this my go to “suggester” mallet. For “Convincing” I have other options.

The idea of a light weight dead blow mallet is intriguing though. thanks for the reminder.
