I mounted the dial indicator (DI) on the table surface and measured runout on the bit two inches below the chuck. I used a long shaft straight Freud router bit...the best machined round stock I had on hand. Once I found the place farthest away from the DI I marked the location, moved the DI and gently rapped the chuck with a rubber mallet. I repeated measuring and "adjusting" until I minimized runout and left it there.
