Auto blast gate alternative

If any of your who have been contemplating autoblast gates for your DC system, are interested, here is an alternative to the pneumatic actuated blast gates I am building. The following is a link to a pdf file with detailed drawings, instructions, and parts lists.

Damper-style DC Autogate

This blast gate is operated with an electric solenoid only and doesn't require shop air to function like mine. It is certainly are an alternative, but I have a few problems with the design as I stated this thread on the TWW forum.

I agree , Alan. A simple damper-style "gate" might be fine for low velocity HVAC ducts carrying conditioned air, but the air and particulates that are typical in wood dust collection are very high velocity and volume, so I doubt these will work very well. I would also suspect they would be noisy as air tried to get past them.
