    Claro Walnut Winged Bowl

This is the bowl I made in my class with Bill Wallace. There is a very small pedestal on it to give the impression it is hovering above the table

    Winged bowl

A little something I was playing with over the weekend. It's a winged bowl, in hard maple with a bloodwood lid. The small disk on the top is box elder. A very economical way to turn a bowl as the initial blank was only 7 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1 1/4". Finish is Claphams Bees wax and oil mix. Thanks...

    Brown Mallee Burl

This bowl was turned from the Australian Brown Mallee burl. The dense material and non-uniform blank makes the winged bowl a fun challenge for a turner.

    Australian Burl Winged Bowl

Here's a winged bowl I finally finished. The wood is an Australian Brown Mallee burl. These winged bowls are a lot of fun since you have the equivalent of a saw blade spinning a 1/2" from your knuckles the whole time you're turning :wink_smil. I finished the bowl with Behlens SBF.
