I am cutting birch plywood and am getting a lot of splinters on the edges...just wondering which would make a cleaner cut...a miter saw or a table saw. I am cutting 45 degree angles to make a mitered corner on a box. Any suggestions, please?:eusa_thin
My brother is fixing to build a small skiff. He lives in the Mooresville area and is looking for a supplier for 1/4 & 3/8 marine ply in the Charlotte area. Since I'm on the other side of the state I'm not familiar with suppliers in that area. Do any of you folks know who carries marine plywood...
What would be your advise on drilling 3" holes in 3/4 in plywood. Forstner bit or Hole saw. Keeping in mind that this may end up being quite a few holes.
Let me explain...
I am orignally from southern Indiana. Growing up we played a game called "Washers", this is very similar to Horseshoes...
Ok,
I go to a reputable wood dealer buy nice 3/4 plywood. Bring it to the shop, store it flat, cut it up and notice that it is bowed or warped. This happens frequently. Is it something that I have to learn to deal with? Am I doing something wrong? or what?
Thanks
At yesterday's TWA meeting in Raleigh, Bruce mentioned a new type of plywood that he had run across. If Bruce reads this or if anyone recalls, can you recount the details?
I thought he said that he found this new plywood that was pretty inexpensive with fewer voids. Unfortunately, I didn't...
I am just about ready to start my first cabinet/built-in project. :eusa_clap I plan to use dados and was wondering how deep you cut them in 3/4 shop grade red oak. I ran some test samples with 3/16, 1/4 and 3/8 and the 1/4 looks good but I have no experience to help base my decision.
PS...
I've seen several people use this for stuff like router table tops. Where would one acquire this stuff?
I did find one place that has it - never heard of the company before but they seem pretty big (~150 stores all over the country).

In NC, they're in Raleigh...
I am looking for advice on storing sheet goods. I would rather store on edge for space savings and ease of access but it seems to warp over time. I noticed that it is shipped and stored at the lumber yard flat. Thanks.
The question on the plate is ... where do you buy quanlity plywood?
Up until now I've bought all of my plywood from Home Depot, Lowes, and one time from Charlotte Hardwoods. None of these places carries a wide range of choices, or a "great" price. I often hear of wwer's using different kinds...
I'm on a roll with questions.....
Got another project coming up to make some outside cabinets that will have to withstand the weather. Current thinking is to make them out of marine grade plywood. Anybody have any other ideas?
They are going to be painted so the wood species isn't a big...
Ok, here is the situation. Need to make a big bookcase out of about 12 sheets of mahogany plywood. 8 of those sheets are 3/4". May make a 2nd one too. Lots and lots of ripping and crosscutting involved.
Going to use a 30+ year old craftsman 12" radial arm saw. The saw is tuned up and tight...
Now, no laughing out loud, here's a newbie question for the brain-trust. I have some sheets of 1/2" ply I would like to use on ATV utility boxes. Most boxes are about 12"Hx12"Dx33"W with a hinged lid. The problem is, my ply was stored on edge but still has managed to develop a bow in...
Where can I find lite or light plywood? It is usually about 40% lighter than regular plywood. I am looking for 4x8' panels, 3/4" thick. Any help would be appreciated. I seem to only find it under hobbies and I am NOT making small models with it.

I may be looking for some furniture grade plywood for some doors, Maple faced or maybe apple something light with not a pronounced grain but interesting looking - I know, a difficult criteria. It would be for modern kitchen doors; not F&P so too much figure would be over powering - any...
Well, I worked in my shop some this weekend (got MLK birthday off this year) and have been making drawers for shop cabinets. I have been trying to "rework" my shop some and build in more storage and upgrade some stuff so I had built several shop cabinets including a miter saw stand, under...
