    Wonderful pictures.

But how did you manage to load pics when so many of us seem to have so much difficulty doing so lately?

I posted those in Google Photos and simply right-clicked on the image, selected "copy," and then pasted them directly into the text area on the reply screen. I don't use "insert image" from the menu.

Just curious why did you folks happen to choose Portugal to visit? What was the weather like? Interesting food?

    Good pics too!

I may have to get Google Photos since our system is still not working.

Any picture display system - even email - that lets you right-click on an image and has the option save image can be used. That is how I get those images from Amazon about the smile program into those threads. Just copy image and paste into a reply or start thread. They are emailed to me as the administrator of the smile program.

Works fine but doesn't address the gallery issues.

But I digress - beautiful photos.

I've always wanted to visit Portugal. It's one of the few places in western Europe I haven't seen and your dollar goes a long way there, especially in the off-season. English is widely spoken. Portugal and England have had an unbroken political and trade alliance dating back to 1386 and many Brits retire to Portugal. Some Americans do too. The only places I've found better speakers of English are from Germany, Holland, and the Scandinavian countries.

My wife works at UNC and I teach in the Chapel Hill public schools and our schedules like spring break and such don't mesh. Christmas break was really the only time we could take some time off together.

Lisbon has very nice weather. Normal summer highs are around 80 and winter highs are around 58. It was 58-62 the whole time we were there.

The food was very good. It's typical Mediterranean-style food with lots of seafood, pork, chicken and pasta. Portugal is famous for its wines and we did three winery tours. The Portuguese have this strange fascination with dried cod. It seems like it's on the menu in every restaurant. My wife liked it, but I had a bite of hers and I can't say I did. They had little deep-fried cod cakes like crab cake that were pretty good.

Here is a slideshow of our trip. Most of the pics have captions if you scroll over them.
