Sapele/African Mahogany/Zebrawood pricing
Looking for some help pricing some lumber I have. I've got a decent amount of good sized, rough sawn boards of Sapele and african mahogany. I also have some smaller, already planed boards of same species and a few boards of zebrawood. I have bitten off more than I can chew with the amount I have (need the storage space back for other species). Would like some help on how to price this stuff by board foot or otherwise.

Re: Sapele/African Mahogany/Zebrawood pricing
I would start my research at The Hardwood Store and/or Wall Lumber. This will give you an idea of their prices. Depending on availability in your area, you might be able to offer your wood at a premium or you might have to offer it at a discount in order to get rid of it on your schedule.

Re: Sapele/African Mahogany/Zebrawood pricing
Thanks Steve, I checked the only local place that I know of that sells the stuff, found similar Sapele at around $6.50 a bf, but the zebrawood and mahogany were no where near the same length/width and prices varied significantly due to this. Will check Wall lumber, thanks again.

Also check West Penn Hardwoods.

Re: Sapele/African Mahogany/Zebrawood pricing
The Hardwood Store has Sapele, S.A. Mahogany (South American which is pricier), and Zebrawood. Rough sawn lumber is priced in board feet and usually it's a little higher with widths greater than 10".

Here's a price list from Hearne Hardwoods. Most of their wood is FAS grade. African mahogany (4/4, $7/bf) and "genuine" mahogany is about $10.50/bf.

Re: Sapele/African Mahogany/Zebrawood pricing
Capital City Lumber over by the NC State Fairgrounds is where I go to get exotic woods. Folks who work there are nice and helpful.
