    Coopered wood bucket

I'm trying a new method to post a picture. Let me know what you see at your end. Thanks.

Jeff, it looks like a dang fine bucket. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks folks. At least you were able to view the pictures. Thanks to David Walker (DSWalker) for a method that works for him. He uses the "Insert Image" button to the left of the "My Photos" tab in the menu bar.

Raymond, you lost me there! What is a "cooper ring"?

I've read a bunch about coopering and making wooden containers but have never seen that term.

couldn't remember the technically correct name - I had to look it up just now - I meant to say the "hoops" that go around the bucket.

I've always wanted to try that.... and maybe progress to small whiskey barrels.

    Re: Coopered wood bucket

I thought so. This bucket has 20 vertically straight staves which are glued together so no "hoops" are needed to hold it all together. It's meant for dry goods (beans, nails, etc) and not liquids. The staves of a bucket for liquids swell and get tighter to prevent leaks and the hoops hold it tighter as it swells.

The images on my screen are like yours and I also have to hit the back button. Mike's is how they're supposed to appear. I don't know what the others are seeing.

Here's what David Walker sent a few days ago and his look like what Mike is seeing.

I see the link as well, then have to hit the back button to get back to the post.

Glad this method worked for you.

    Re: Coopered wood bucket

Thanks folks. A fun part is back splicing the 3 strand hemp rope for the handle. The splice on the left is pretty good (and neat) but the one on the right is sloppy so I probably got the over-and-under back splice weaving wrong.
