Local to Sneads Ferry / Jacksonville?

I am going to be building a large end grain cutting board out of a butcher block counter top I made years ago. Iíve upgrades the butcher block to a solid walnut and will be using the old maple one for an end grain board. I usually flatten it by hand but was wondering if anyone near me has a drum sander I could use for a few passes. Thanks!

Jason, the maximum width of your piece would help with finding the right sized drum sander.
I like making things. I have a wood shop at home. I am a terrible carpenter but I love doing it. Raymond - Charlotte, NC

A strange title to your thread Jason. Stafford, VA is 294 miles from Snead's Ferry/Jacksonville, NC.

If I understand, your old butcher block counter top is face grain maple and you're going to be cutting it up and regluing it to make an end grain counter top. Correct? Dimensions and you'd like to find a drum sander in Virginia or Jacksonville?

Jason's profile indicates he is active duty stationed at Camp Lejune (Jacksonville), there is nothing wrong with his thread title.

Hey guys! Sorry for the confusion. I didnít realize I had my old info on here. I recently found the Facebook page for the group and it reminded me I was a member of the website as well! I am indeed in Sneads Ferry / Jacksonville area. I thought this was a better piece of limiting info than a drum sander size. I donít have exact size yet. Itís going to be somewhere between 24-30 inches on the short side if Iím doing my math right. So most open ended ones will work. I think most are 16-32 and 19-38 if I remember correctly. Iíve included a picture from when I made it for reference(even though it doesnít have dimensions haha) I am out of town at the moment and will update it when I start. I plan on just cutting the rounded edges off and cross-cutting it. Thanks for all your help guys!

Looks like you need a step stool to run that sander... Love seeing little ones helping out in the shop!

    Thanks for the update Jason
