    Jointer Pal

How accurately does the Jointer Pal set your knives? I set mine today and when I checked them with my dial indicator, it showed them about .003" higher than out feed table.

I was always under the impression, even by the manufacturer of my first jointer, that you want the blades very slightly higher than the outfeed table. I guess this is to make sure the board feeds smoothly onto the outfeed table. If I remember correctly, my first jointer, an INCA, recommended .005. If you got yours within .003, I think you are very good to go.

    Re: Jointer Pal

When I set knives with a ruler (sometimes I’m out visiting, don’t have my tools, and get asked to look at a jointer) I set the knives so they barely lift the ruler but don’t move it forward. I would guess this is between 2 to 5 thou.
