    California Air Compressors

The prices just keep dropping on these. With the glowing reviews they get here, I may just have to order one of these to replace my pancake compressor.

Mike, these seem to be oil-free compressors. I'm surprised that they are said to be quiet.

    Re: California Air Compressors

I have one similar to the one pictured. I am very pleased with it and it handles everything I need it to do. It is extremely quiet when running to the point of being able to hold a conversation while it is charging. I highly recommend these air compressors.

They are indeed very quiet - absolutely no comparison to a screaming pancake. You are going to like it

My understanding is that they are using low RPM high displacement cylinders and heads rather than the more typical low displacement high RPM cylinders found in most portable air compressors, hence they run considerably quieter.

I've owned a CAT compressor for several years. It does not get used much (primarily for in-house air needs), but it's very quiet and I have been pleased with it.

I bought a California compressor several weeks ago Model 5510SE 1 HP 5.5 gal. tank to run a air turbine tool (Vortex F5). Compressor is very quiet and powers the tool with no problems. Durability remains to be determined but very pleased so far.

I have a smaller one. Replaced my pancake and should have gotten the CA first. The difference it's night and day. First thing I would I grab when i used the pancake compressor was ear protection. Get the CA and don't look back

Does anyone remember what the price was when I made the original post? It seems that Amazon doesn't have them with Prime shipping at the moment.

Ouch. I should have pulled the trigger. I guess that's why they're sold out. I hope it's not a closeout.
